Creamy Tomato One-Pan Bowtie Pasta: A Family Favorite
There’s something so comforting about a recipe that’s been passed down—or in this case, passed across. My mother-in-law used to make this dish for my husband and me all the time back in high school, long before we were married. It quickly became one of his all-time favorite meals, and now it’s a staple in our own home.
I love how simple it is—just one pan, no fancy ingredients, and it always hits the spot. Whether you’re cooking for family, friends, or just need something cozy on a weeknight, this creamy tomato bowtie pasta is a go-to.
Creamy Tomato One-Pan Bowtie Pasta
Ingredients:
1 pack of mild Italian sausage, chopped into bite-sized pieces
2 (15 oz) cans of diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 (6 oz) bag of shredded Parmesan cheese
2 cups heavy whipping cream
½ cup water
1 box (about 12–16 oz) of bow tie pasta
Garlic bread, for serving (optional—but highly recommended!)
Instructions:
In a large pan, cook the chopped sausage over medium-high heat until browned and slightly charred. This adds so much flavor!
Add both cans of diced tomatoes (juice included) and stir to combine.
Once everything is simmering, pour in the heavy whipping cream and water. Stir well.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then add the entire box of bow tie pasta.
Cover the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and has soaked up all that creamy, tomatoey goodness.
Stir in half the bag of shredded Parmesan cheese and mix until melted and creamy.
Serve hot, topped with extra Parmesan, freshly cracked pepper, and a slice of garlic bread on the side.
It’s warm, it’s filling, and it tastes like home. I hope your family loves this recipe as much as mine does!
